Hônen-in Temple (Kyōto, Japan): Garden and Cemetery.
The Hônen-in (formal name Zenki-san Hōnen-in Bambukyō-ji) is one of the lesser known temples of Kyōto. It is located at the site where Priest Hōnen (1133-1212) with two disciples erected an image of Amida Nyorai to worship him (era of the Heian 794-1185). The existing main hall (Hondō) was built in 1680 by Priest Ninchō (the era of Edo (1615-1868)).
